The story of The Little Potato Company begins with Jacob van der Schaaf’s memory of working as a child in his father’s fields back in Holland, and those delicious little potatoes he harvested.
The Beginning
Jacob teams up with his daughter Angela and they set out to grow little potatoes in Canada. After harvesting and washing the potatoes by hand, Angela would load up her hatchback to sell them at local farmers’ markets.
A Humble Start
Angela and Jacob rented a one-acre plot of land in Edmonton, Alberta to grow their first crop of little potatoes with a couple of shovels and a dream.
The Little Potato Company is Born
Local chefs, consumers, and retailers love them so much that The Little Potato Company becomes the first company in North America to exclusively grow and sell little potatoes.
