our company

Founded in 1996 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada by Angela Santiago and her father Jacob van der Schaaf, The Little Potato Company Ltd. has been the leader in the breeding, growing, and marketing of little potatoes. A delicious, fresh whole food grown on famil y farms, the company’s proprietary colourful little potatoes can be found in more than 20,000 retailers across the United States and Canada.

Our work is guided by a set of deeply held core values and we pledge to strictly abide by government labour standards at all our facilities.

Supply Chains

At The Little Potato Company Ltd. we use local resources whenever possible. We have longstanding relationships with farmers across Canada and the U.S. They invest for us and with us to make our business possible, and we’ve developed relationships to ensure our growers’ success for generations to come.

Our potatoes are predominately sourced from family farms in Alberta, Prince Edward Island, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Washington and Wisconsin. Our supply chains have expanded as we develop new products and grow our business.

We have begun researching risk within our supply chain and have assessed it as low due to our suppliers’ locations and the nature of the goods and services they supply. We will continue to assess our entire supply chain and manage potential risks.

We are dedicated to working closely with suppliers to expand and promote responsible sourcing. Our suppliers have completed a questionnaire including details about legislation compliance, quality assurance, food safety, industry codes of practices, audits, certifications, and fraud vulnerabilities.

Policies and Training

We are evaluating our policies and training for the purpose of identifying new opportunities to strengthen awareness to our employees and suppliers on the risks of forced labour and child labour, and the importance of compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
