This post is in response to recent news about potato wart appearing in some potato fields on Prince Edward Island.
At The Little Potato Company, we take special care to ensure that your potatoes arrive to you safely and ready to eat. All of our Creamer potatoes are thoroughly washed, carefully graded and inspected, and packaged directly at our plants in the U.S. and Canada.
Potato wart is a fungus that can occur in soil and is typically transmitted to potatoes through soil. The fungus poses no risk to people or animals. This harmless fungus has not been identified in any of The Little Potato Company’s fields. It has been identified in some other fields which are now closed to export.
If you’re feeling concerned about the safety of your spuds, choosing potatoes that have been washed and hand-inspected—the way they are at our facilities—is ideal.
